Theme/Description of Learning Community

Writing and the Philosophy of Harry Potter is a Learning Community that will engage students in thinking critically when writing about Harry Potter.


Learning Outcomes
  • Students will learn to apply their reading and writing skills to content area textbooks and popular culture, specifically the Harry Potter book(s) and movies.
  • Students will learn and be able to apply philosophical and rhetorical terminology to academic and non-academic content.
  • Students will be able to improve their ability to respond creatively to real-world problems.
  • Students will be able to discover the connection between literature, philosophy, and their everyday lives.
